Ann Decker

Ann Decker is a Kingston-based artist who works in series to explore diverse subjects. 

In her Portraits in Nature series, she portrays the female figure in natural landscapes through the lens of magical realism. For example, Snow Dancer (oil and acrylic on canvas) depicts a woman wearing a gown of snow-laden tree branches as she feeds a junco in the forest. 

Her Portrait of the Soul series turns inward, capturing the interiority of the sitter—whether friend, family, or stranger—through reference photos or live sittings. Other bodies of work include Abstractions, Still Life, and Plein Air. 

Colour and composition are integral to all of Ann’s paintings, and her chosen media include watercolour, oil, and acrylic. She has exhibited in local shows for several years, and her work is held in private collections in Canada, England, and Bolivia.
