Liz creates many types of art.
Her work includes hand made art dolls. They are made of a huge variety of fabrics and adorned with jewelry, either made by Liz or from jewelry taken apart and reused. They are standing or sitting on bases decorated with paint, ribbon, tulle, anything to enhance their happy aspect on life.
Liz also makes tables, planter boxes and birds with different types of wood. Wood is cut, curved on the band saw, painted and decorated and reassembled to create lively, colourful decorative pieces.
A few years ago polymer clay became a fun way to make beads and then wire work them into jewelry – necklaces and earrings. Mixed with old and new beads from many sources, they are an enhancement for any outfit.
There is always a fun range of art to see in her workshop

Liz Schell Artist Statement
I have been creating all my life.
During my years at Domino Theatre I would keep odd cuts of wood that were destined for the trash and turned them into the “funky” flower boxes first sold at the Women’s Art Festival in 2006.
I expanded into tables, lidded boxes and “bird” flower boxes. They are all made with pine boards, cut on the band saw, reattached with wood glue and screws with urethane finish.
Since 2022 I have been making art dolls. These whimsical, so far mostly female, dolls are a joy to create as I never Know what they will look like until fully realized as silly, studious, whimsical, thoughtful or dramatic.
I take art classes regularly at Kingston School of Art and the Seniors Centre Kingston. I volunteer at a small shop in Kingston KCAD (Kingston Community Arts and Design) where I sell -mostly art dolls. The shop sells only hand made artisan goods.
Art is as vital as breathing to me and anything I can do to support the arts is my happy place.

Humour and whimsy are a theme in much of Alice’s art, from her line of cheeky greeting cards, paintings, stained glass mosaics, garden art, and recycled furniture.
The self taught, multi-media artist’s work has been commissioned by the German based company Ravensburger Puzzles and the Canadian puzzle company, The Occurence, to be used to make jigsaw puzzles which are available worldwide.
